The Niccone Valley is where Tuscany meets Umbria.

The Valley literally winds its way through Umbria and Tuscany to such extent that while taking the road that connects Umbertide to Lisciano Niccone, you cross over from one region to the other various times.

The northern Valley is mainly Tuscany, topped by five ancient castles or fortified villages, all standing opposite their Umbrian counterparts that lie on the hills of the southern valley and all built over a 1000 year period of Papal an Renaissance history.

Mercatale is our local great little village that is 8 km away.

They have several good restaurants and offer facilities which a larger town would envy including 3 bars/gelateria/pizzeria, 2 banks, 2 supermarkets with fresh produce and wine, 2 butchers, 1 bakkery with a variety of fresh bread, cakes, a pharmacy, a florist, a post office and more…   During the summer there are village festas.

Umbertide is a 20 minutes drive away at the other end off the valley towards Gubbio and Città di Castello.

Umbertide has a lovely weekly market on Wednesday and is a very good town for almost all supplies you could need.

Cortona is a 20 minutes drive over the hill from Cadigosto, their Saturday market is perfect for locally grown organic produce, cheeses and delicacies of the region.

Only 26 km away is Antognolla Golf. One of the most spectacular and challenging golf courses in Italy with 18-holes and a good restaurant "La Boiola".
